Community Made Quest Competition

[:1]

Everyone is asking for a map editor, and this is the first AOE I can think of that didnt have one.

That being said, a map editor would most likely have strict limitations on its use, since the whole point of the game is that content is unlocked over time (and unlocked through transaction)

The best way to compromise in my opinion would be this:

Release a map editor that is for the sole purpose of a running (monthly or so) quest design competition by the community.

People could design a quest, do triggers, design the landscape etc, and would submit it to GPG/Microsoft, who would then judge the applicants based on a variety of things. The winning quest would be put in-game as a repeatable quest.

The winner would have to be cleaned up, balanced and formatted for the core game, but that way you could have true community-driven game content.

It would allow the devs to explore different design points of view.

This might even fix the Cookie Cutter quest problem that plagues the game (Cyprus is pretty cool, its much better than argos, but id still say they all follow the same formula)
