Civ Ideas: Sumerians

This stuff doesn't get much feedback. Maybe I shouldjust post in the general ideas instead... or make a glossary for this stuff there. I dunno! Anyways, more civs!

Sumerians

One of the world’s first civilizations does not deserve to be forgotten!

Gimmicks: Sumerian villagers are sturdy because they use pack mules and farms are naturally more productive. In fact, Sumerian farmers do not need to go to a drop off point because their mule does it for them, (though they’ll try and drop them off at their donkey if it’s still moving on its way back so still don’t make them too far from dropoff points), it can use farms to age advance after reaching bronze.

Their military is also balanced, though their weaponry is curious compared to other civilizations. Also, their cavalry is comprised of Onagers (an Ass) and not horses, meaning anticavalry spears and camel stenches are 10% less effective.

Speaking of Onagers, their siege craft is superb with fast firing catapults that are pulled by Onagers!

Barracks

Daggerman: The dagger deals light damage with a slight bonus against infantry, but it strikes faster than other weapons to compensate its lower power. Age 1 unit.

Battleaxe: The Battle Axeman wields a two handed axe which can cut down melee units and even cut trees. They strike slowly however, even if the attack slices well. Age 2

Shield Waller: Armed with a large shield and a short sword, these units can attack alongside their allies and redirect damage meant for the target onto them. They’re sturdy and take next to no damage bonuses from other targets. Available age 3

Archery Range

Javelin: The first archer has a somewhat unwieldy but useful javelin to counter enemy archers. Age 2.

Bowman: This one is better against infantry than archers. Age 3.

Onager Chariot Javelin: A mounted Javelin thrower. This archer is available in age 3 but you must build a stable before you can train them. Good against archers.

Stable

Onager Rider: Not as sturdy as normal cavalry. The Onager cavalry is armed with adagger but is resistant to anti-cavalry, especially camels, and moves fast. They lack the punch most cavalry have, but use 1 pop slot. Age 2.

Onager Chariot: Armed with a spear, these Chariots are built to counter cavalry, and they have scythed wheels for more utility. Not as durable as most cavalry, but this one has 2 pop cost value. Age 3.

Temple of the Annunaki

High Priestess: A religious unit that can heal units and repairable buildings and siege. Fast at curing, her heal rate slows considerably during combat. Age 2

En: Spiritual Leaders who can heal, though poorly. He can convert enemy units in a group and from greater distance, but it lacks in natural effectiveness. Age 3

Gala: A holy singer. The gala convert other holy units with great effectiveness and empowers structures. Otherwise, her song debuffs a group of enemy military units, reducing their power. Age 4

Fortress

Mesopotamian Elephant: The only living unit they have worth more than3 pop slots. The Mesopotamian Elephant rider holds a war club, meaning his weapon is the same that many bandits use. They have a greatbonus against buildings and siege. Age 4.Mesopotamian elephants were driven to extinction via overworking.

Siege Workshop

Onager Onager: There’s no ram, but the Onager Onager does the job as the only trainable unit available here besides the Pantin. Fast and fast firing, the donkey pulled catapult moves and fires quickly, though its 6 population cost can make you think twice. Age 3.

Pantinlonlon: The only interesting thing about theirs is that it’s pulled by Donkeys, making it slightly faster moving when unpacked. Age 4.

Economy

Besides the donkeys carrying goods to the TC/SH for them, the Sumerian tech tree is rather typical and that's not a bad thing when your villagers can keep working while an donkey carries to the TC. The donkey is invulnerable but if the villager dies, the beast of burden dies with him.

wow these civs are great.

However wat abt ninja(s)? i dont know exactly whetheritis chinese or japanese. But it is not added in any of these bothcivs. It was infantry having a long but light weight sword. Very fast both in combat and moving.

I think this might have been added in advisor units.

|||You tell me what ninjas have to do with Sumerians right now! Otherwise don't spam! Hell, tell me what they have to do with ancient times... what littl feedback I get and it's not even useful or helpful!|||Ninjas are awesome but... wrong time period and wrong civ. I think sumerians should have a strong economy and cheap military, the area's lack of natural borders meant that invasion was an ever present threat and the army had to be effective, historically wars were quite common in the area. This is probably the best civ suggestion to date. Summeria played a huge role in early history and it would be silly to keep it out of the game. Dynasticplanet keep the civ ideas coming.|||Onagers aren't completely extinct. Only one of the six subspecies is.|||I would love to see the Sumarian civ come out! They invented writing you know =D|||Speaking of writing, edits!|||I dontk now about Magi, seems like Warcraft III unit to me lol|||

Woah, this civ sounds amazing. Isn't Magi another term for Zoroastrian though? Or am I wrong on that? Zoroastrianism's mainly a Persian thing.

Actually, I just checked your Persian thread, you had Magi there as well. Were Sumerians Zoroastrians, then?

|||Perhaps I could change the name, not much a big deal. I swear I remember Zoaster taking hold in Sumer for some time or magi used for other definitions.... but no matter.|||A slight altercation for good old Sumeria.
