Add this feature please! Would make this so much better

I have a hard time managing all my gear, can you please add a feature or some way to monitor gear.

Example: When browsing the windy widget store, I see a good piece of gear i want to buy, but i have to back out and check what i already have active. So if i want to buy an upgrade for my archers, i have to sit there and compare it all manually. Cant we get some way of having it compare the new piece versus equipped piece?

It's a challenging problem due to the number of units that can equip some pieces of gear; walls are by far the worst offenders.

But yeah, we totally agree. We do need to make this an easier process.

Remove Ads for Premium Users

We don't need to be reminded to buy premium packages when we have premium packages. Replace the mission load screen with something else.

[Bug] Cannot collect chests in mission if you are invited to co-op game while on a map

Like it says, second time this has happened so I was unable to collect any chests on the map after defeating their guardians. While ingame if you are invited to join in a coop match and decline, you are no longer able to collect any chests left on the map. I have not tried letting the invite time out naturally (next step if it happens again).

Intelligence of enemies way too dumb, missions way too easy

Hey folks,

the non-Elite-missions are just waaay to easy. I mean comeon, in fact you can level up and them enemies don't even think about "whoouh let's build a HUGE army and attack him right away!".

Noo, if they attack (for example when I attack a villager outside the enemy's walls) they come with a small amount of units. And they keep it going that way. Sure you guys want to "convert" players to AoE, but it's way too easy as it is now.

Can we expect a balance fix which makes the missions at least a little harder and the enemies more intelligent?

You don't even have to think about what you're doing to win. This can't be it!

Anyone else thinks the same way as I do?

[BUG] Returning to capital city when being co-player

Hi,

when your coop-partner and you complete a mission which you have already completed but your partner has not, it's impossible to go back to the capital city right away. Actually you have to leave to another city like Crete or Mycenae and just THEN you can go to your capital city, but you cannot go to your capital city from the mission right away.

[BUG] Mission targets missing when quest not accepted

Hi,

when playing coop with a friend while you don't have the mission accepted or already completed it, you don't see the targets on your screen. Only your colleague does

Making Gates

Why cant we make them or did i miss them somewhere?|||you can make gates lol just make the walls then click on a section of the wall and it has a upgrade to gate cost 50 wood and its instant

lots of bugs

so ive noticed a ton of bugs:

- I cant play pvp, because after like 20 seconds of a laggy start it says my game is out of sync and quits every time

- about 1/4 quests start out as 2 villagers on an all black map and i must restart the quest

- randomly the villager and priest model stops working and they move in space but the model doesnt actually do anything

- when i started the first demo crete quest it automatically said i had lost at the start

- i dont know if this is a bug but my units seem to randomly move at different speeds (not just when they are selected with slow units) for example when retreating from battle they are sometimes extremely slow

- i have given this game a ton of chances, and as a super competitive age of mythology and aoe3 player (and sc2) i am very disappointed

They have imported marauders into this game.

Actually, some units have a snare effect, which I believe you can acquire in some gears as well. The trouble now of course is the formation effect, which slows everything down, instead of only the snared unit. If only marauders are this good......

I have no idea about any of the other ones, however.

Treasure Chest Suggestion

It would be nice to know the number of chests still remaining on the map, so we don't have to search every inch of the map for a treasure chest when we completed the mission.

Can't get Chests on the Cyprus Quests

I've done the quests forphiladelphos of arsinoe, now I'm doing the repeatable ones and I have done three and can't get thetreasurechests( i've killed all of theguardians and I have plenty of room for them but can't get them)

this is very frustrating!!!

Civ Ideas: Persians

This IS a suggestions board is it not? I figure I might suggest ideas. I've searched and found nothreads befitting of a project this detailed...henceforth I'll get started!


Anyway...



Persians


Main Gimmick: The main thing about Persia is that their infantry troops are Immortal conscripted. Unmounted Persian units have less life than othercivs, but are conscripted to have a second (and with Advisors possiblyeven third)'replacement' that instantlyrevives the unit.If the unit survives long enough for the cooldown to finish,another conscript will allow another death meaning immortality. They're frail otherwise.



Mounted units, by contrast, are either sturdy or highly powerful at what they do and more expensive than the average counterpart from another civ.


Barracks Units


Immortal Lancer: The Spearman mimicavailable in Age 1. They, while good against cavalry, also have minor anti-infantry, but again their lower health can balance this out.


Immortal Archer: This unit is also available in Age 1. Unlike most archers, this unit is all around with no true 'weakness' but no bonus vs any unit type. Pretty sturdy as far as persian units go.


Immortal Swordsman: Anti-infantry specialist with decent defenses and a slight bonus against buildings. Available age 2.


Sparabara: The Sparabara of Age3is very durablemelee unit but low low on health. He takes next to nothing from enemies and even can 'taunt' enemies onto him. He isbest countered by conversion or by not attacking it if you can avoid.Though his auto attack does force them to strike him.



Stables Units


Charioteer: The first stable unit in age 2. Chariots are durable for their setup with good archery countering powers, but they also counter religious units with increased damage. Through Advisors, Chariots can get Scythed Wheels.


Chariot Archer: Available Age 3. Can likewise get scythed wheels. Chariot Archers also counter religious units (and all chariots SHOULD as a shoutout to AoE having this power.) Otherwise similar to Egyptian. Also able to get Scythed Wheels through adviors. For the archer, the scythed wheels work in melee range.


Heavy Cavalry: Available Age 4, the Heavy Cavalry is alot like the Hippikon but with more focus on armor than health. They have a slight infantry bonus damage.


Horse Archer: Persian Horse Archers are incredibly fast but incredibly flimsy. Their range is great though. They are an age 4 unit.



Temple Units:


Magi: Much like Greek Priests, they heal and convert, though technologies will be different.They do not have Immortal status and are more effective at converting units that aren't Persian trainable.



Fortress Units:


Armored Elephant: The sturdy elephant rider who has no immortal status is VERY high on health and armor and power as well as cost. They can trample towers, walls and buildings and other units. Available Age 4 but highly susceptible to anti-cavalry.


Armored Elephant Archer: Available in Age 3, these are highly sturdy fast attacking archers with little special to them other than decently swift and very strong hots. They have weakness to antiarcher and Anticavalry so be careful. Elephant units, like other mounted units,are not Immortal Conscripted. Against melee attackers, they have a minor trample on top of their ranged arrow.



Docks are mostly the same as other civs.



Siege: Mostly vanilla. Their Catapults and rams are rather average and do their job. They lack a Pantinlonlon but super elephants can get by almost any fortification down as they take reduced structure damage.



Armory:


The armor line is the same BUT attacks are split into 2 categories: melee and ranged, not by unit type. If a unit is ranged, they get boosted by range tech, if melee then by melee tech. In the end, they cost 1/1/2 meaning getting all ranks will only cost 8 tech points instead of 9... and and rank 1 melee is free with the building so it'll only cost 7.



Beyond that, they havea rather typical TC villager training and aging technique. Its the military that has the gimmick.

|||I just found the religion in Persia was Zoroastrianism. Since Magi are followers of Zoroastrianism, perhaps Persian priest could be called Magi?
|||I feel like there civs lower tier units should be super super cheap+weak and their highest tier units uber strong. Make them the most contrasting civ in that regard.|||Pretty much what I just did. All mounted units are strong, costly, but not immortal. While not super cheap, Barracks units costa littlelessthan Stable and Fortress units, but have the Immortal replacement capacity. This effect can extend to Persian Advisor foot unitsas well|||Here's hoping they'd draw some ideas from me.|||A bump because I hope my thoughts on Persia get heard.

DESIRES AND REQUESTS FROM AOE FANS!

1. Like the earlier Age of Empires series, it would be great to let us choose our unit's colours in PVP. (With no players having the same colour per game, to avoid confusion)

2. By introducing 'quests' to the Age of Empire series, the RPG element (leveling and customizing) had also been introduced. Why not let us check our own stats? For example, let us check our Wins and Loses in PVP or other player's stats (UNRANKED GAME STATS), instead of having to level all the way to level 25 to get ourselves on ranked boards. This contributes to the competitiveness of the players in game. Where they would try to make their stats seem good. Also after PVP games, it would be most likely that the player would check their opponent's stats to see how they rank up against them.

3. Players have been complaining about the premium price being too expensive. Maybe it's a good idea to consider allowing F2P users to unlock the premium contents. E.g To unlock a certain thing, players must be a certain level, having a certain number of PVP wins or amount of in game gold. OR JUST LET US BUY THE PREMIUM ITEMS WITH IN GAME GOLD. The point is that, you can make it very difficult and time consuming for F2P players to unlock the premium items, but no matter how difficult, it would at least satisfy them by showing an alternative pathway to earning those premium contents. This would help provide a more balanced power between F2P users and Premium users. We understand that premium users would still have to look for their items after purchasing, but what happens when they have found their items? Vsing against those Premium accounts would make F2P users at an advantage.

4. The arena is only available to Premium users? Why not allow F2P players to build their own arena so that they can form a game with their friends, or 'prepare' a team against other teams? Currently Sparta PVP only allows users to randomly generate a team (2v2).

point 1,2,4 - absolutly my opinion

point 3: It's better for the communtiy of a F2P Game to get the same chances and abilities playing a game. Give the Premium guys special cosmetic stuff, funny stuff and extra SP scenario stuff, but do not disadvantage them in PVP games :-(

I have really loved any Age of empires for the last 14 years, until today. And I love the ideas and gameplay of Age Online too, but I really dont like the payment of it :-(

Why did you cut the 4on4? It was amazing playing in big PVP groups...I dont get it :-(

|||I think they only made it up to 2v2, because of the map size in this game. Every map that I've played so far, the maps generated are REALLY REALLY Small.

ANOTHER SUGSESTION! CAN YOU PLEASE MAKE A DIFFERENT GAME MODE FOR WONDERS PLEASE? PVP against higher levels, what they do is just build wonders and defend it to win. It's already hard enough to defeat them when their soldiers are stronger. So why make the wonders part of the same PVP game mode?

[BUG] Forum Star Rating - "Oops something went wrong!"

When viewing the general discussion forum and clicking on the star rating, to show who rated the thread and how high, the small window which appears contains the "Oops something went wrong!" error. Today was the first time I noticed it.

Advisor Hall Organizer maybe? duplicates

I'm not sure if this is newb and I just don't understand how to fix it. . but is it necessary to have duplicates of an advisor in the hall, just because you threw the first few in you got out of excitement?

What I mean to say is I have an advisor, lets take Survavilist Agathon as an example, I have his uncommon card I'm like WooT cheaper stronger villagers, I threw it in my advisor hall. Later I found a Rare Agathon. . now they are both in my Hall and I realize if I throw Advisors in willy nilly it'll be full of all different kinds of rarities so I've taken to avoiding putting in anything not epic, or at least awesome (I needed my Age 3 castle unit guys. . )

Is it possible to remove an advisor from the hall? If not, can a rarer version of an advisor simply replace the less rare version? Its not exactly like there is a demographic out there who will be disappointed they can't downgrade and use a less effective advisor. . right?

What if someone decides to play against a friend and they decide to play with common advisors because one is lower level than the other, if your solution will get implemented, there's not really way anymore to change these custom arena PvP match variables.

A better solution would be to implement a filter to hide and unhide the rarity of advisors. So you can filter on epic for example and hide the other rarities, but can still use them if you decide to.

BUG - Villager count

The trading caravans count towards villager count in the population, they also count on the unused villagers button but they do not count in the gold producing villagers and I think they probably should :)|||Agreed. Fishing boats count as food villagers as well, so why shouldn't caravan be gold miners?

Idea: Player Shop

Hey guys,

first I'm level 12 and dont know if this feature is already available. But I think not. :p My idea is that players can build a shop in their own city where they can sell stuff.

How it works: You get the blue prints, build the shop in your city and then you can open it by clicking. Next you open your inventory and drag and drop your items you want to sale. For exampel: Resources, Cards, Gears or Blue Prints! Next you enter the price you want to sell these goods.

And now: Someone other have to visit your city and search for your shop and look what you offer. If he is interested in something he buy it and leave your city. Next time you log in or while your playing, you will get a message what has been sold.

So, this is a feature I would like to see in AoE Online it also would be for other players more interesting to visit your city and look what they can buy there.

But how do you like the idea? Do you want to build a player shop in your city?

Overwork the PvP design

Hey there,

At first i like the Game very much...but

The PvP design is very Bad

1. The Idea to Match every Player ignoring his Tier is FRUSTRAITING for lower Tiers and BORING for higher Tiers the Beta design to Match only Players of the same Tier was way better then this.

2. Adding Sparta as the PvP City could be a good Idea .. but the benefits for playing PvP is pathetic you can just get a few items for Points that you have when you dont need them anymore because the itemlvl is below your lvl. further the old beta design to get a pvp quest in every city to gain the tokens from this city was better but not the best possible solution.

3. You dont get any Coins for completing PvP which is higly needed to advance in your crafting.

4. You dont get any recipesor craftingmaterial in PvP .

5. Some craftingspecials can be used in PvP and some not .. thats unfair and makes no sense. a bandit tower isnt op

6. You cant match up with a friend in a 2 vs 2

this are very importent points for players who want to play mainly pvp. pls dont ignore that. for pvp players like me its very boring to play the easy pve missions. but i have to to keep up with the gear of pve players. otherwise i wouldnt have a chance against that players in pvp.and please dont say that you will get you gear at lvl 40. pvp should be fun from the beginning.

just for example ... the biggest and most successful mmo, World of Warcraft were doing the same wrong things which are in Age of Empirest

theyve changed almost all of these points.

Suggestion - Player-filled Shops

I'd be willing to say most people don't want to sit around and wait in the trade channel to sell their stuff.

If possible, I'd like to see implemented a shop in the home city that a player can fill with items of his, choose the prices, and put them up for sale while he is away. This would definitely increase traffic to home cities, and would provide people with more ways to buy and sell the stuff they need.

Simple suggestion, not too sure if it would be simple to implement though...

How would you find people's home cities then? you'd only be able to visit your friends or visit some random person's empire in any chat window... which would take forever to find something specific.

A server-wide Auction House as been suggested by many. You can just limit this to Premium players, because non-Premium can't use rare, epic gear and advisors.

Ultimately, this would end up functioning like a de facto auction house; I imagine that when the AH comes in, this is how they'll do it:

- Little building in your town

- Fill it with stuff you want to sell

- It goes on a global auction house

- People buy your stuff

Okay here is my idea: What about a search function where players can search for items they want and the system will show up towns that sell it. Now you only have to visit them. Im not a big fan of auction houses, players should definitely visit your town because I find it a huge feature in AOE so why dont use it?

Bug - Mission: Get the Goods/ Co-Op

I was playing the mission co-op and the person said that they had to leave and did so.Afterthey left oneof the carts was still under their control and they had alot of people around it. I moved a bunch of my units by it to try to regain control but never could. Is there a way to remove a player after they have left the game or some workaround? I cannot complete the mission because of this.

Mercenary Advisors

When I did some research about the organisation of the Carthaginian army, I found out they did use mercenary soldiers extensively. DynasticPlanet5 gave me the information Persians did use mercenaries too, so I searched further and learned that the use of mercenaries was widespread in ancient history. DynasticPlanet5 suggested allready to grant mercenary units in-game by advisors, what is a very nice idea! And that is why I made this topic.

Some of known mercenaries were Cretan archers, Balearic slingers and Numidian light cavalry.

One that caught my attention were the Amsaig. Semi-mythic Celtic mercenaries, comparable with Norse Berserkers, their name meaning "Wildmen". They seem very nice to put into this game!

I'd almost think 'mercernary' advisors should be nearly universal in their availability: They're mercs, they'll work for anyone who hires them!



Would Celtic mercernaries fit a Mayan empire? Not really, BUT they're mercs: they don't care! They'll work for anyone with enough coin! Would you find Iberians or Numidiansin Japan? Very unlikely without Alien intervention, but Japanese gold is as valuable as any other!

I fit most of the Norse motiff (no archers, ranged units throw things) into Gauls.

And, yes, maybe the Vikings are ahead of time, but many civilizations didn't live in the same age,for example,the Greeks appeared in 1100 b.c,and the romans conquered them in 146 a.a.,even if the romans appeared like a free civilization in 753 b.c, as we can see, they aren't completely contemporary. But I don't know if they want to make every civilizations contemporary.They can join civilizations of AOE and AOK in this game,because some civilization in AOE appeared in AOK and the celtic appeared in AOK, so why Vikings can't appear in AOE online? I like this civilization, because I use infantry too much. But maybe another great civilization that can be included are the Babylonians,they can have a great defense and a great siege. But what I really want to know is if the will make american and oriental(beyond the persian)civilizations. I like the aztecs and yamato civilization.|||Yamato are time displaced, as are Aztecs. Mayans could work for Mezo America, as could Olmecs. As for Japan, there are either the Jomon or Yayoi.|||And what about the Babylonians?|||

Babylonians will fit right into this game.

I think too that Vikings or Norse are time detached, but perhaps there will be Germanics in game.

My big thing with Babylonians is naming the troops. I mean, they could easily be a very religion and stone oriented civ that plays defensively but the troops... i'm not too sure there to be honest. Heck, I had an easier time with less documented Choson and Jomon finding basic troops.



But enough of that, on topic... the thing about advisor units is that there are tons of them... still, diversity spices life!

"hector must fall" Bugged

the Hector must fall quest as the greeks is bugged, if you kill an eilite guard, then it doesn't seem to count as one of the 10 kills.
can anyone tell me if this is known about, and if their is a reason behind it?
i completed the quest after 30 mins, then realising i killed ALL 10 Guards but it said i had only killed 1...

Cyprus - what I hope it is? [An idea for multiplayer]

Awhile ago I had an idea concerning multiplayer.

The basics were that there would be some regions of the world map that were themselves divided into very small provinces. Clans/tribes/guilds of players could then own these provinces and challenge one another for them. Owning one of these might provide the clan members with free consumable mercenaries/resources/special gear etc.

To initially qualify for a piece of territory a clan might have to complete certain "clan quests", after which they would be assigned a random piece of land in one of the regions. If there were multiple regions that supported this, the quests might be different eg. to qualify for a piece of land in Macedonia you might have to complete a set of Macedonia-related quests between your clan, while to qualify for a piece of land in Ireland you'd have to complete a set of Ireland-related quests.

After getting assigned an initial province (we'll assume that the plot sizes on the map can be re-adjusted for volume - the size isn't really relevant) clans could then take over other provinces by either completing a difficult mission (for empty provinces) or by challenging another clan for the territory if it is owned.

The attacking clan could issue the challenge to the defending clan, who would have a set amount of time to respond (not too short ofc). When they did a pair of players, one from each clan (or maybe even 2v2), would then duke it out for control of the province in skirmish. If the time elapsed, control would be automatically transferred. Alternatively, there could be set times of day at which the battles took place (this might require separate Euro/US servers though...)

The provinces themselves might also have their own mini economies that developed real-time over long periods of time. They might be upgradeable to provide a defensive bonus against attack; or you might be able to construct certain economic buildings to change what bonuses the province provides or to tailor its economy to any resources it provides eg. if my clan captured a province with a gemstone bonus, I could build a quarry or something there to improve the bonus.

Anyway, having logged into the pre-release I see that Cyprus has been added as a region and looks like it is divided up into provinces. Any word on what this is about yet? Are all my hopes and wishes being fulfilled? :O

This sort of thing is perfect and would really keep people interested; and making expansions for it (from which MS would get their revenue for these players) would be incredibly easy.
|||its a good idea and the region that is under a clans control it can be upgraded i mean like placing a workshop on it and produces mats to make other stuff in the schools that ar too in dif region that is on the same guild in schools to make better weapons armors starting from green till epics and the workshops and schools can be upgraded to make the stuff needed for the new gear
|||and also maybe you could build defenses over time to give you an advantage in defending the province (obvs these couldn't be TOO powerful)

Bug Alt+Tabbing

A bug that I find really annoying to play with is when you Alt+Tab out, tabbing in essentially let's the 'Alt' function stick, like for example Alt+Enter switches the game to Full Screen (which in itself is another bug since that isn't mentioned anywhere in the Hotkey pages) as well as preventing you from clicking on any unit or doing anything until you press ESC. In which case, pressing ESC causes your menu to momentarily blink in and out, then all of a sudden everything is fine.|||

I just push the window key on my keyboard and it has not problem minimizing the game.

BUG Premium items you cant delete

For instance the arena quest in sparta, i play free and cannot build the arena, sell it, or destroy it. So it now takes up one inventory slot of my inventory.
If this is not a bug then it is forcing people to buy the premium content.
Please do something about this.

1 spot out of 28 does not force a premium purchase, but I get your point.

You're gonna get an advisor hall later down the road too, so there goes another slot.

I think f2p's should get 3 warehouses available though.

URGENT: Please make new players read the handbook

Hello everyone.


AoE Online is a very new idea, the whole capital city, quests, pvp, technology points in an RTS game .. This is very confusing to new players. please consider putting a warning for new players to read the handbook, alot of people in my server are always cursing and saying how "How the **** do you do this!! this is stupid"

its annoying to see people cursing the game ALL the time because they cant understand how it works, and the solution in my opinion is in one of two things :

1- Make a very CLEAR and BOLD statement " Dear new player, AoE Online is a new and fresh idea that may be confusing to some, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you read the empire hand book (or whatever that gives the players an idea about the game) .

2- Make the first quests the player does explain the concept of the capital city very clearly.

I love this game and hope that more people would play it , because as in any MMO, the more the merrier.


Xbox live and Windows live login.

Is there any possibility of allowing one to be logged into both Xbox live and games for windows live at the same time... the issue I am having is that i utilize myXboxfor watching my NetflixSubscriptionand my Hulu Plus subscription Insteadof paying for a Cable subscription. But when ilog intoAOE I am not able to log into Live on theXboxwich prevents me from watching these 2services. mostly just a suggestion as i doubt that this is an easy fix as the whole point of thelog inis to prevent say me and my brother tolog intoXbox at the same time and play for the cost of 1 subscription|||

I'm not sure if this still works. I did this a lot when I had my netflix subscription. There is no way to be logged on them both at the same time, however. If you are watching say a movie thats 2-3 hours long, I forget if it works for tv episodes or not you could give it a shot.

Basically just sign onto your xbox start playing your netflix show/movie. Than go sign onto live on the computer it will sign you off on your xbox but the show/movie will still stream up until I think you go back to the netflix interface / dashboard. Decent work around but I do wish they would allow you to be on both for these same exact reasons.

Forum colors

The color in thread titles that you've seen and that you've not seen, it's BARELY visible. Atleast on my monitor with a TN panel. Might be better on IPS panels. Either way, is there a chance to change it to a slightly bigger color difference?

Time limit on maps?

After playing Hector must die for a while taking my time farming xp letting them run into my forts over and over, my workers seem to slow down then this is after playing for over an hour it just says server unavailable logs me off but I can log right back on so the server never went down what the hell

Crafting Hall Mishap.

So when I chose my first 2Craft Schoolsfor the crafting hall I got so excited that it gave me new buildings to build that I unlearned my currently selected school and went down the line obtaining the new buildings. Then I unlearned one of the last craft schools after getting the building blueprints so that I could relearn the craft schools I actually wanted. Only to be confronted with the fact that I could no longer relearn the ones I wanted, and to discover at my horror that I was left with only one craft school and had wasted my initial learn for each school. The fact that I've shorted myself 7000 gold worth of value in 5 seconds makes me wonder if I shouldn't just abandon my current city and start anew...

Obviously I should have been morethoroughlyattentiveto the fine print in this situation, but it seems I'm not the only person who has made this mistake and suffered for it, so I begin to ask if the game didn't do enough to keep me from greifing myself.

The popup that appears when you attempt to unlearn a skill is as follows:

"Are you sure you want to unlearn this craft school? Relearning it later will cost 1000 gold"

(the 2nd bit about the 1000 gold is on the second line in the box in game and perhaps too easily overlooked)

It seems to me that rather than warning someone when they attempt to unlearn a school that it will cost 1000 gold to relearn, it would be better design to let them know that BEFORE they learn their first school. And make sure theyunderstandthe permanancy and value ofthat choice, and that they're essentiallyusing up 1000 gold in first time learn value. The situation I find myself in is pretty infuriating especially since it could have been avoided. I suppose I have no one to blame but myself, but it seems like I shouldn't be so seriously boned after 5 seconds of user error :\ Is there even a huge need for relearning craft schools to cost 1000 gold in the first place?

Either way this is pretty disappointing.

If there's any way myCrafting Hallcould be reset to give me an opportunity not to be a dufus, I would great appreciate it. If not I guess I might just start the game over to fix it :\

i cant play age of empires, help me please!

i have played age of empires online since it was available, but since yesterday something weird happens. after 10 minutes of playing AoE online my monitor shuts off and it doesnt go on, it says NO INPUT. but when i turn my computer off and then right back on, my monitor works again. i can do everything and my monitor wont turn off exept for AoE online. my computer is just 2 weeks old and i already did the frame rate and the graphics lower, but it still didnt help. please, can someone help me out? Player Abuse

With anonymity comes trolls, and grief.

Massively Multiplayer games have in the last few years been flooded by people who do not understand or care to abide by rules of conduct which exist to foster a welcoming and fun playing environment. The general chat in Age Of Empires has already been flooded with the just the type of people you don't want playing in your game. Those are the kinds of people that make racist, homophobic comments with the sole intention of bringing grief to others, and a type of negative attention to themselves.

WE NEED AN INTUITIVE REPORTING INTERFACE, EASILY FOUND AND ATTACHED TO THE CHAT INTERFACE. Or at the very least a drop down choice for reporting a player, much like the ignore feature.

Ignore isn't enough. People who make an account with the sole intention of griefing other players must be removed the game completely.

Please give this consideration.

Just for clarification, I understand that by viewing a player's card you can make a report. However this isn't intuitive, the drop down menu needs one click reporting.

I don't aim to annoy, but that is 100% a cop-out. A reporting interface should be set up within the game. It is unreasonable to assume that a player will search the forums or contact support in order to receive that email address to report the "problem" players on the game. It's much easier for them to simply quit if they are upset with griefing and they don't feel that anything is done about it (especially since the game is F2P and most people haven't bought into the game).

A reporting interface is an industry standard in any game with online capabilities. Look at any multiplayer system:

Runescape --> Report player function that automatically captures the video of 30 seconds before you report the player

Xbox Live --> Records all communication automatically, can be reviewed if they receive complaints (integrated File Complaint system on each playercard)

Starcraft II --> Report player function available after each game at the scoreboard

It isn't too much to ask for us to have an easy-to-use method of reporting users that are bringing down the quality of the game for everyone.

Is that a more effective way than by reporting via the player card? Also is the screenshot basically so the staff doesn't have to scroll through text? It would be easier to just have a report function that allows the player reporting to type a short message describing what occurred and at what time. It would also help if in-game chat had time stamps.

Screenshots can be manipulated by those submitting them. Server logs don't lie, unless an employee has tampered with them.

|||I do agree that an in-game reporting system would be preferable, however with what we currently have that is our best option. We've got a pretty big list of features we want to improve on down the road and will be patching the game regularly.

Path finding

Hello dear Microsoft and Robot Entertainment

I am just the usual player who plays his pity free version of the game, while deciding if it is worth to buy the premium pack.

For me, the answer is NO. and i say NO with capital N and O because there are some terrible, terrible bugs/features/you name it in this game that should not have made it past the beta testing, so here is my two cents. I apologize for maybe harsh language

first of all, why do we need to click twice to queue units or select a building from the viliger buildings list ? is this supposed to prevent spamming or is just some bug left unnoticed? This is very counter-intuitive and when you want to queue several units, you are left with either mass queue through shift, or spam the mouse clicks like a tard.

Second and most important, unit path-finding is just terrible...

YES that is right, behind them is a gate, instead my units are going the opposite way on the longer path. There is no move queued here, just the one you see. And this is not the only case where path-finding has been horrible. I understand you want to have a game consuming as low resources as possible but seriously...we are in 2011. Age of Empires 1 used to have this problem, it wasn't fixed in neither Age 2 nor Age 3. are you ever going to fix it? seriously, i've learned path-finding algorithms in my first year at computer science collage. I honestly doubt you don't have a developer capable of writing a simplistic backtracking algorithm, i suspect you are just lazy.

One thing that i suspect i causing all the problem is the units moving into formations and somehow the calculations go off and the game thinks the formation doesn't have enough room to through tight spots

that is easy, give us an option to disable advanced formations or simply make them break ranks or re-arrange when going on tight spots.

Take this as a suggestion to improve the game instead of simple ranting. I really like this game, and I actually intend to buy the premium civilizations once these bugs are fixed. And I am pretty sure a lot of players with background in RTS feel the same way.

Why isn't there a PvP forum topic area? (and others)

I may not be able to find where this is, and if that's the problem please help. I want to know how to watch replays of my pvp games. This is a feature in all AOE games.I've only played unranked, do you have to play ranked to do this? Please don't tell me they forgot to add that. If so, they need to fix that first.


Second, I like post game statistics. This is in all AOE games. Please tell me it is here, and I just don't know how to access it. If they forgot to add this, this is the think they need to fix second.


Please let me know how to find this in the game, or help me express the need for these features.

Player vs Player Level is Unbalanced

I've played 2 PVP's and lost both, because it is unfair advantages, first game i was lvl 7 (no premium waiting for the money) vs a lvl 10, no big deal i figure and crush him except for 5 fortresses he had made, i having no siege units i was forced to wait an hour for himt o spam nothing but elephants.

second game i being lvl 10 vs a lvl 23??????

he has age 4 and tones of stuff that i dont.

i say the makers of aoeo should have a structure, for example

- lvl 5-9

-lvl10-15

-lvl15-19

-lvl20-25

-lvl25-29

-lvl30-35

-lvl35-40

etc..

this way here it is atleast a little bit of fair game and no just a bashing....

Actually thats how the old PvP system worked, your starter city had an arena for certain lvl of pvp. Then as you quested through each city, those cities has an arena for their lvl.

For facing premiums at anything below lvl 25, it "could" happen in unranked. But once premiums hit lvl 25 they have ranked pvp to do.

The Unranked PvP will get better as more people play, you will get a better chance to be matched vs someone near your lvl. Give it time, everything in this game can only and the devs, etc want it to get better :)

No the OP is correct. At the moment it is horribly imbalenced. I too have played 2 pvp matches and lost both. Not because of lack of skill mind you, but because of the advantage a lvl 27 player has against a level 7 player (me).

I hope it'll get sorted out soon, because it is an awesome game to play against same-ish level people.

|||I completely agree. I am not interested in singleplayer AOE, I only want to do PVP and therein I have almost no chance of winning because the vast majority of the time Im matched against a much higher level.

Other level based games' pvp have incremental level brackets, and so should AOE. Please follow the example of massively popular titles like WoW and LoL.

For now I wont play because a 95% loss rate is no fun when when its largely due to unfair conditions.|||

I agree here too... I'm not much of a PvP person myself, I play this more for the campaign. However, an occasional PvP match is fun.

So far I have played 3 matches, me as lvl 27 at the time vs a lvl 10, a lvl 11 and vs a lvl 6. The level 6 guy just left straight after seeing my level, the lvl 11 guy tried to rush, but my equally large force crushed his because they were wearing lvl 20+ epics and rares. After seeing what gear I had on my army, he said WOW and just gave up. Only the lvl 10 guy stayed for a short but full game, but he was a complete noob :P

It's not very fun right now for me as a high lvl either, because people just give up very fast.

[Potential Bug] Defeat Marion - XP Cap

While playing, and replaying repeatedly, the "Defeat Marion" quest, instead of the XP award being reduced for enemy kills once it reaches a certant point, all XP awards above the kills remains the same after reaching 10k, but none are actually added to my overall total. This isn't a matter of "lag" with it being posted either as it remains at that total for the entire duration (5-10min later, or after going back to a city, still that amount). I don't know if there is an intentional "hidden" cap or not, but this is the first time I've encountered something like that.

Suggestion : Co-Op Reconnect

Me and my girlfriend ware doing an CO-OP quest, went pretty smooth after 15 minutes she got disconnected. and she can not reconnect.

In my opinion you should be able to reconnect and continue you're quest, it's really annoying when you are gathering a big force, then get disconnected and you can start over again.

Chat Moderators needed!

As the titles states, there needs to be some mods asgeneral chat is full of people being detrimental to the enjoyment of others, especially when I try to help people.|||All of the community is able to help by taking screen shots and reporting ppl that are not following the code. Im sure they are very busy now that the game has released, making it harder to monitor loads of more ppl. Outstanding community members such as yourself and others like you, do loads to help. Even by ignoring, muting, or even creating a new tab entirely, it may seem like not enough, but really makes a world of difference.|||

We have a handful of mods who do try to get on the game when possible, however with all the different shards there simply aren't enough eyeballs to go around all the time.

As mentioned, please email us withscreenshotsif users are causing trouble.

I strongly support this, I don't see why you need payed reps for this.


Alot of free2play games use mature community members for this, and sometimes offer minor bonuses for performing the task.


All such a Community Chat Mod would need is the Ability to Mute players for various amounts of time, and possibly a way ofdirectly contactinga official (trough msn/xfire what ever)in extreme cases.



I know I would be more then willing to be such a mod, as I've been one in the past for both Aeria games, and Age of Conan (for a short period of time).


Don't care much for rewards for doing such, though they might be a incentive for others, I would be more then happy just being a part of stabilizing the chat.


As it is now It is rather horrid, and I am willing to guees more then a few players have quit based on the way they have been threated.

|||I just try and help as best as I can. Report and mute people, and tell people to do the same so they don't get in trouble by doing the same as the offender(s). Then I hope the mods show the offender(s) no mercy ;P

I am sorry to say, the screenshot "system" is no system at all, means the player who notices poor behavior etc, has to jump to a bunch of hoops to just to report this.


Which in most cases means, he decides to actually play the game he payed for, rather then doing the mods job.


Line of events:


1: Notice spammer (for example)


2: Screenshot


3: Upload.


4: Send.


5: 4 weeks pass, the payed mod finally got trough the pile of screenshots (most of which contained useless data) and reach the screenshot in question.


6: Accused player gets 5 min mute.


My point ischat issues need to be dealt withthere and then, when they happen.


If you allowfor itto go on for weeks, like it looks like it will, then other people jump on the bandwagon, wethers its out of annoyance at the other people doing, or any other reason.


I must also ask, don't mods have access to the actual logs of the chat?

[BUG] Music Not Switching Over Between Civs (Egyptian Music When Play Greek)

I started out this game in pre-release with an Egyptian civilization and only recently began leveling up my Greek civilization. Whenever I played a Greek quest, the Egyptian music and victory music would play. I decided to uncheck the music and sound from the options menu, click okay, go back in the sounds menu and re-enable the sound. Voila! I now have Greek music with my Greek civilization.

Your game is broken

I read about your game and decided to try it out. I went to your web page and clicked the "Play Now" button. This downloaded a file to my computer. I then ran the file, and it opened up the installer.

The installer downloaded a number of files and after it finished installing and launched the game, it asked me to sign up for MS Games for Windows Live.

In going through the sign up process, it switched me for some reason to XBOX Live.

Just so you know: I did NOT have either Games for Windows or XBOX Live accounts before today.

When your game forced me to sign up for XBOX Live, it identified that I have a Windows Live ID (which I use for MS Office) and asked me if I wanted to use that for XBOX Live as well. I said yes.

It then signed me up after I provided personal information including date of birth.

Then when I tried to play Age of Empires Online, it immediately brought up a Games for Windows Live screen, and wanted me to sign in. So I signed in using the ID I had just created. Then it asked me for a CD key, but I had none to provide. Where am I supposed to get a CD Key?

Since I had no CD key it would not let me go any further and would not let me play the game.

After fiddling with this for several minutes I got disgusted and tried to wipe the game off my hard drive, including the Games for Windows crap that your game forced me to install.

So I went to Control Panel to uninstall Age of Empires Online, right clicked it and chose "uninstall". This brought up an uninstaller, which crashed half way through the uninstall.

So now I am left to manually try to find and dig out the gunk your game left behind on my computer.

I hope this is not the normal experience for people wanting to download and play your games, because if it is, you guys have no hope.

|||that is a known issue. i agree it's unacceptable, but a quick google search would have found and fixed your particular problem.|||I agree! Spent hours trying to install this and no success...leave it to Microsoft to mess up a simple install that so many vendors out there seem to get right. Why launch at all if you don't want people to play.

The support FAQ has the solution for the issue if your game is asking for the key:

Simply go to "Games for Windows Marketplace" (Start --> all programs --> Microsoft games for windows marketplace)

Sign in

Go to "Downloads"

Select Age of Empires Online

Hit "View Game Keys"

Use the LIVE access code when asked for the key in-game.

I will keep the information you provided in mind. For now, though, I have spent too much time first installing the game and then manually uninstalling it after the uninstall utility broke.

So for now, I have lost interest in playing this game. It's not very encouraging when you find that both the installation and uninstall processes are broken, it doesn't give you much hope for the rest of the game. It's a pity because I loved the previous Age of Empires games.

Perhaps some day I will feel up to installing it again and will bookmark your suggestions in case I do.

Sorting the Advisor Hall

I just had a suggestion for the advisor hall to make it a little cleaner.

Atm it seems that the way the Advisor hall is sorted is the order in which you add new advisors. This leaves for a very messy, very long list of good advisors mixed with the useless ones.There doesn't seem to be any way to sort, order, move or remove the advisors in any way.

My suggestions are:

1. Add an option to sort the list of advisors by quality

2.Add an option to sort the list of advisors by name

3. The two above options can be combined so that advisers with the same name will be in order of quality as well.

4. Add an option so that any advisers with the same name but of lesser quality will be invisible as long as this check box is ticked. This way we don't have to look at the same adviser of different quality 4 times, this is important mostly because the advisor menu screen only allows us to view 5 advisors at once.

5. Enable the middle mouse to scroll through the list instead of having to constantly click.

This obviously wont be game altering or anything of the sort, just a handy interface option.

|||I just logged onto the forums with the intention of making a very similar suggestion to your fourth one. I'd actually take it a step further, when I activate a new adviser that I already own at a lower grade it should completely replace the lower rank one (as in lower rank one is gone and if I had them assigned they are replaced with the higher one). Similarly when looking at a new adviser item I think it should tell me "You already have thie Adviser" if I have that adviser OR a higher rarity version of him.

1. idle villager button is whitin others Indicators so its not eye catchy. i need manually to look so often to see if they are idle. let that button be separate.

4. Save game for God sake, net will drop out 10 yrs from now not to mention now.

Suggestion for dc

Unfortunately my Internet been disconnecting 2 times today and both times I was doing quests. And I'm starting to get pissed off cause I have to re-do the quest when I disconnected cause obviously I get logged out.

So my suggestion is to somehow pause the game and get a reconnect button or whatever so if someone dc they can wait for their Internet to work again, press reconnect button and voila continue with the quest.

Alliance

I think they need to include a Alliance system built into this game. Like in Age of Empires 3 they had alliances so you could set up matches with team mates and play against other top alliances.

Suggestion about Co-Op

I play in a group of about 4-5 friends on here and it would be great to offer up co-op missions that can accept more than two people. I don't expect a re-tooling of all the missions, but it would be great to at least have a few. Right now, we sort of take turns helping each other out, but it'd be nice to have that MMO feel towards the game by having, you know, more than 2 people playing.

Auto Scouting

I want this feature because one command to scout is enough do explorer a map. And this feature was on aoe I dont know which version aoe but it was there.

And while scout is scouting if he see any building we see log message of that building name, whos building is that|||Bump|||

Elite ->Normal - Bug?

Yesterday I did quest called Craftsmen Rescue (it's daily quest in capital city - GREEK) and it was soooo easy. I am level 8.
Today (at the same level !)I just wanted to try elite difficulty on this quest but it was unplayable so i switched it back to normal BUT Normal is hardcore now. CPU build towers everywhere on map, his army is much stronger than my and I cant destroy one histower with 100/140 army. Is it normal ? I think its pretty hardcore and somethig gone wrong when I switch to elite and than back to normal.

|||Abandon quest, then re-accept. I think you really need siege weapons to do this on elite. By the way, you can bypass the town and sneak in from the back, then you will only have to deal with 2 towers, instead of 4 + a town center.

Equipment Comparisons - Shopping v what you have equipped

When you go to another city and they are selling equipment, there is no way of seeing if the stuff being sold is better than that you already have.

Building units by clicking in quick succession

Before release(ie. in beta) i could repeatedly click a unit's icon to produce several units, now when repeatedly clicking an units build icon, or any buildings icons for that matter in quick succession it does not register all the clicks.

Example, select the market, hit buy stone 3 times in quick succession and you'll get 100 maybe 200 instead of the 300 you're expecting.

You can try doing something similar with a barracks or stables, click the unit build icon 3 or 4 times in quick succession and they'll not all register. It's fine for military units because they all have hotkeys(which don't suffer this problem), but when it comes to using the market or similar it's just frustrating.

If anyone else is reading this, please test this in game and see if you can replicate, it occurs on both our systems playing Egypt free(mentioned incase that bears some relevance).

The problem does not occur with hotkeys, so no it's not lag. Additionally i'm on 10mb cable(noone else is currently using the internet connection), so unless you're suggesting this game has super high bandwidth requirements then i very much doubt lag to be the problem.

[Bug] Quest: Hector must fall

Unable to complete quest as the kills of the Elite guards dont register.
Tried this quest twice, once in solo and once in co-op, in solo only 1 kill registers and in co-op only 2.
Its worth adding that hectors death did register.|||Try abandoning the quest then taking it again.I didn't have any problem with it at all.

(BUG) Move 'em out !

In this quest i must kill some bandit captains but when I kill them it doesnt count in my quest log - I cant complete this quest. I play for Greek.

Any ideas?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, you need to run past the first one and kill the second one. They should then all count as kills.

In the beta they were red and confused me looking for the last things to kill.

|||I know exactly what you mean. I sometimes use the minimap for complete navigation while micomanaging other things like my economy. Little and behold after finishing setting up that economy it turns out I had set out to attack that evil berry bush again!

Enable "friend or foe colors" in game options. Or use the in-game shortcut keys "alt + f" to toggle depending on if you have it enabled or disabled at the moment.

This will make the opponent and co-op partner colors anything other than red and blue.

Personally, I bought the launch offer. I just visited the city of someone who bought the season pass. When I went to one of their stores and was confronted with the vanity content (statues, fountains, etc.), it says I need to be premium, although I am. I believe it is just a misleading note on the items. It is locked if you did not buy the DLC for it.

Log out and log back into the game and you should not see the "locks" and other restrictions from a free player anymore.

I would like it if AoE Online would get a bit more distance from windows live. What i mean is that both the playername and the friendlist is seperated from the windows live account. Cant be that i have to fill my windows live account with friends from AoE Online and then after the 10th game i started from Microsoft, my windows live friendlist, does look like my facebook friendlist or what? Same for the name.. Simpson3k is my general internet ID wich i use for many different acounts out there but..for a game like AoE, i really would like to chooce a different name, without that i have to change my Live ID.

Mission Completed trigger

I see that if i complete a mission, but i continue to play, and suddently something happens to my connection, the mission is lost and i have to do it again :(

I think would be better if the completion trigger if fired as soon as the mission is accompished, so even if i lose connection, or game crashes, when i log again i just need to go to the quest giver and get the reward, instead of doing the whole mission again wasting a lot of time!

I think it would be better if the mission would be saved to the account if the player gets dissconnected and at reconnect the player gets the option to "continue" the mission. I mean the autosave features is as old as the first PC´s or even older, every 0815 offline game has it. Microsoft should hide ashamed in a corner to release a stratgie game without this. Even the most stable Internet provider cant garantee that its connected never drops.

LOL even browsergames are running persistent, this is really a BIG MINUS.

If we can't get an option to 'save every XX minutes' (hello, the game is supposed to be persistent!), at least your game progress should be sent to the server at mission completion (and ideally at every chest recovered).

Hell,in PvE save my progress to a local file so you don't have to use bandwidth... :)

Can't Log On, In Game

When I check the network status, in game, it says I don't have internet connection, which, as you all can clearly see, I have. So I cannot play the game. What can I do?

|||My issue is different than ConsternationX's. Problem is when in game, there are times when I have to log out, then back in because I wouldn't get credit for doing a mission. Couldn't figure out why, so when I logged out and back, and do the same quest, and beat it and get credit for it...left me confussed. This happens frequently.

mouse click speed

It seems in the beta I could click the unit build icons as fast as I could to queue up troops or villagers.

Now in the retail, it seems I have to wait a tiny bit of time between mouse clicks, which is not an optimal situation.

Yes, I know I can shift click, but that requires me to get over to the shift key, which is also slower.

I dont see the reason for not having the clicks respond as fast as possible. :)

[EDIT]: Ok, I see this is a known issues and being worked one. Hopefully the fix will come soon!

BUGS:

Bugged: Greek Mission: Homer's Run

Issue: Credit for kills isn't always given

Problem: I cannot get credit if I kill Homer before killing his elites. Must kill Homer last.

Bugged: Villagers collecting wood

Issue: When villagers collect wood near a cliff, sometimes they go around to the top of the cliff when there are nearby trees. This causes the villagers to farm wood at a much slower rate unless I can catch the issue.

Problem: I believe that villagers go for the nearest tree and they have no sense of travel distance opposed to tree distance.

Bugged: Leaving co-op missions

Issue: When I help a friend with their mission, I cannot leave after it's completed. Fortunately I can travel to another city, but after awhile it becomes an annoyance having to travel to Sparta, then back to my empire.

Problem: When playing a co-op mission that I do not have, I don't have the "travel back to city" option because the games think I'm already there. We need it to read as if we're not at our empire, so we can travel back.


Bugged: Greek Challenge: Kill The Docks

Issue: When playing co-op, the invited player sometimes get attacked instantly, making it nearly impossible to participate.

Problem: Clubmen either patrol too close or too soon.

Bugged: Party Chat

Issue: Sometimes when starting a mission the chat bugs. When I type in multiplayer chat, it doesn't show up on my end and I have to click the "general" tab to view my own message. Sometimes happens with private messages.

Problem: Unknown.

SUGGESTIONS:

Add private messages as a separate option: I hate that you can't talk to anyone using other than being in general chat full of spammers.

Garrison troops: I'd the option to garrison my troops. If there is an option, then I haven't discovered it.

Friends Only chat: Need an option to see messages from only friends. I'd like to see the chat customizations expand a lot more.

Drop-In/Drop-Out missions: Sometimes people get disconnected. We need the option to either reconnect to the mission in progress, or at least give party members the option to drop-in and pick up where they left off. This is also helpful for a person dropping in late because they can still collect and trade resources. Nobody can be too far behind when they can always help, even with 1 villager.

Shrink or combined houses: Houses just take up too much space. 5-10 doesn't look so bad, but 24 is an annoyance. Need to shrink the size.

Priest Convert priority list: My priests love to convert villagers when I don't want villagers. I'd like a check box to deselect villagers.

Renaming your empire: We run it, we should be able to rename it. If there is an option, then I haven't discovered it.

|||Oh man, I would LOVE a friends-only chat pane. I haven't played with any of my friends yet, but I don't see any special chatrooms in the game where I can just talk to my friend and not have to whisper over the general chat.

Auction House

Hi all, first sorry beacuse I'm spanish and my english isn't very good. I have a suggestion with trade system, cause allways the general chanel is full trade spam, imposible to read all, too fast cause too people sell, and there will a problem when game will have a lot users trying to sell something. My suggestion is a new building, an auction house which can be a building dedicate to trade, people could sell their objects setting a price with a few interest like 1% of price, the auction hause should have diferents aparts for advisors, materials, buildings, etc... and you should see the items by price order, that will be the auction system, people put their prices, obviusly the auction will be for sellers, trying to sell their items for the lowest price (this is beacuse i suppouse people is not retard and will buy the same items but with lowest price :-p). and this is my suggestion. I hope get comments from people, i think it isn't a bad idea, but i want what people thinks about it, thanks for read :-)

We are adding a Trade tab by default and limiting all links of items to the trade tab only. Hopefully that will help the rampant spam we have seen in chat for the last few weeks.

Technically, since AoE is an online experience, couldn't elements of the game, such a trading and crafting be done elsewhere, in another intereface. For when you're away from the PC and have a few minutes to kill.


For example, in a Facebook or Moible app.

Age of Empires Online Launch Pop Up Error

I seem to keep getting the "Age of empires has encountered a problem and has to close" pop up error every time I click play to launch the game. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing both the game and the windows live. I've repaired and installed all windows updates and .NET Framework and even re-installed DirectX 9.0C. But I still get the error and nothing seems to fix the the problem. Does anyone else get this and is there a way to fix it?|||Is there even a way to fix this? or is it the game developers end that this is happening?

Could something like this be used when logging into English servers please?

[VITAL SUGGESTION] Multi-group Hotkeys

It's very simple. Let's say I have Spearmen, Cavalry and Archers, then I want my groups to be as thus:


1) Spearmen

2) Cavalry

3) Archers

4) Spearmen, Cavalry

5) Spearmen, Cavalry, Archers

This way I can have my Melee bound to Group 4, and everybody to Group 5, as well as individual groups. There are countless examples like this that are impossible with the current system of one group per unit.

The Find Military hotkey is useless because it selects every military unit, including Scouts and sea units.

It can't be that difficult to implement, and it makes tactics a whole lot quicker and easier, at least for me.

The
lack of this feature is one of the main reasons I immediately hated
Dawn of War 2 (especially when compared to Dawn of War 1, which, obviously did have
this feature).

I do 1 for nexus, 2 for zealots, 3 for sentries, 4 for stalkers, 5 for collissi/high templar 6 for robo/stargate, 7 for voids/phoniex, 8 for observer, 9 for forges and 0 for second observer/scouting probe.|||Am I being trolled?

Sort of. In SC2, there's no hotkey to select all your necessary buildings, so you tend to put them into hotkeys, which makes the number of hotkeys available small. But still, 1a2a3a isn't that hard, SC2 or AoE. Of course, you have the (dis)advantage that the units will no longer be in 1 single formation, which may or may not be what you want.

Actually, after testing, since the ctrl-B type hotkeys snap you to a TC/barracks and focus your camera on it, you probably want to hotkey your buildings with numbers as well, so you can macro while fighting. In which case the number of hotkeys you have is limited, strengthening the above poster's point.

Let's assume then, that I might be the kind of person who tends not to hotkey buildings, maybe because I really prefer versatility in micro-managing my army, there's no reason why this feature CANNOT or SHOULD NOT be implemented. Obviously, you, the other poster, and many others do without it, so I'm not trying to say anyone should do this my way, but just having the option there makes everyone happy.

One tiny change that can really improve this game

As a former AoK/TC player, i knew iwas gonna buy a civ premiun since the start. I was an aok junkie, used to stay up late for hours just studying save games and trying to improve my game. I never got to the point to be great, but i was alright,..

Now all this experience is making a difference in AoEO, me like many other veterans have a huge advantage of thous who never play aok. That experience and the premium pack issue.

So, a ppl who never played aok and like everyone else wants to pvp , has to face in the pvp arena two obstacles : 1 - Veteran AOK players ; 2- Premium Players.

Both of this obstacles are creaming the new ppl data base from this game, i know, cuz i cream a lot ppl above my lvl who were premium and non premium, still when i was testing civs and werent premium. I wanna say something with all due respect, but theres a solid majority of players out there that doesnt have a clue how to play this game.

And heres comes the issue that i want to raise : how come they dont know how to play ?

For me the answer is easy, they dont have an City Arena to practice, so they dont have a chance to learn. When i was an aok ppl, i had like everyone else, to practice. Practice my feudal time, my castle time, my rushs, what to do when is water on the map, how to procede in arabia, how to plan the houses. This new age comers dont have were to practice proper, and most important,
no one to practice with. So, it is in this scenario that i propose to
change the City Arena to non premium content.

This will give ppl a boost to train between thenselfs,practice so that they may learn and enjoy this game so that afterward they can buy it. The way i see it, ppl are getting cream too often and too fast, this may compromise the welcoming of new comers to this game... A game that doesnt have the ability to attract new people, will certanly die.

So, in the way i see it, we are talking about 1 tiny little compromise that can really put some life into this game. Am i wrong peeps ?

[Forum suggestion] seperated bug- and suggestion subforums

I think it would improving both the collecting of bugs and suggestion if each gets their own subforums, so bugs arent pushed down by the daily flood of suggestions and same for good ideas being pushed down by bugreports.

Agreed, at least to the extent that bugs should have their own forum, it will help avoid duplicate bug reports by having bugs in their own dedicated forum and the existing topics will be easier to scan over, because they'll not be buried amongst feature requests and suggestions/feedback.

No save option while in a quest

I have already commented about this subject in the "Capital cities and
quests" forum. But I feel it's worth re-posting it here where the

What's the chances of this happening? I'm thinking next to impossible, if it wasn't considered before the foundations for this game were laid. Either that, or it was already decided that it wouldn't happen, but what's an MMO without a UI addon system?

[Bug] PvP Ranked Match

Hello everyone.

I hope some mods will read my post.

I launched a ranked match on the server Appolonia. When suddenly after 3 second we were"Desyncronize".

Me and my opponent were both kickout from the party. Back to sparta, after 30 mins i got 1 free defeat. And my opponent got nothing( neither defeat nor win).

Little disapointement, never loosed a pvp match until now.

A more important issue is the PVP matchmaking system which paired me against a lvl 36 guy yesterday... when i was level 8. The PVP matchmaking must be improved.|||

Nop, it was before the maintenance i guess. Everyone else played just fine.

And yea, the matchmaking is pretty ugly. There is not that much people who pvp, but i feel like it just match 2 person together whatever their level.I'm 40 and sometimes i'm opposed to some level 5 without waiting..

[Bug] - Defence of Crete

Hi, I purchased the season Pass but defence of crete doesn't work properly for me.


I can select hard (20-30 waves) but when I start it is on easy setting every time with only 10 waves showing.

Works fine if a friend hosts and does this but not me. Please advise

When selecting hard it still does not work and only shows 10 lvls (so it looks like easy).

Hi all, i wanna leave feedback.

1. Game graphics so nice i like it very much

2. Game have no difference in gameplay from aoe2 with its technologies and other things

3. Main city has no special option instead of making items and adding points, it is useless or developers wanted to to city like menu i dunno.

4. Mostly every mission starts from zero, why the heck is that when i reached 4th age of tech in my "menu city", its just the same like play aoe2

5. AI(artificial intellect) is so stupid, if not elite warriors in his army its powerless, they are building no walls, no siege weapons, i can take CPU player with 2 catapults and few horses with archers, its so annoying then you spent 2 hours of playing and you can defeat enemy in 3 min.

6. This game isnt Free 2 Play, yes at the start it is, but later, you cant do some quest without premium packs, you cant wear any items you get from chests, not even a single items, this not Free 2 Play but Forced 2 Fee 4 Normal Play.

7. And these packs market system is so bad, many ppl just cant brought premium packs, this is not normal in 2011.

8. And what is with civilizations? 2? what the **** is that even AOE2 had higher count of civ. Ofcourse if you do game just because of money, things happens like this one. But no one agrees with that because ppl love AOE and they play with and cant face the truth.

9. In 40 level it will be the same as play AOE3 or Warcraft III in any server you connect send a duel request, you start from zero, win or loss, over, and over again the same, this is sh**y. Why any game developers cant imagine anything more original from old school online real time strategy style. Cant you see its the same, and you paying money for nothing.

And i love AOE style games mostly AOE:2, but this is i dunno how to call it, something like : lets rob more money from people because they like age of empires and they will pay money even if it is pointless, "out of date", old school simple servers like game, just hidden behind "menu city" and they will play and be happy, because their "wanted" game like this.

You can choose 8 of something like 12 different buildings to generate resources, which can be used your choice of 2 out of 5 (I think it is) different classes to create special gear. You have your advisor hall, you gear hall, and all of the buildings you decide to make. I understand your point that it's basically like a fancy city-like menu. Then again, the whole game is like that with units and resources. So what exactly would you expect from an RTS-MMO?

- Personally, I think it would be outstanding to be able to build up your city, customize it, have a ton of "special things" done to it, and then use it to PVP. It could be saved the way it is, and not actually change anything when the game is over. Just use it for fun in a PVP game.

4) I agree with this. I would like to see more of a scenario/campaign type thing for the quests. I'm really having that much fun reaching the same ages over and over again, and going through the same exact motions.

- Path finding needs to be fixed, this thing is driving me crazy, and causing me to actually lose units.

- Formations need to be fixed. If I have a group of 20 units, with 1 to 4 or so of them a few yards off from the pack, it's hard to get those units closely bunched together, with out moving them too far from where I want them.

F2P Advisors

(For the record, I have both Civs premium, I bought in the pre-release - curse you no free Crete :()

I really think white (and maybe green) advisors and the hall should be given to f2p players. I worry that the f2p content in this game is not enough to keep people interested. F2p models work so well precisely because they give away enough content to keep players engrossed for a significant period of time.

I had a mate start AoE:O on f2p; and by about level 10ish things were getting pretty stale. Advisors definitely provide some freshness at that point. Of course I bugged him to buy but I think that for a lot of people who are on-the-fence about AoE:O as a game they will simply walk away, having not invested enough time in the game to consider premium.

I think MS should be aiming to keep people playing on f2p till about lvl 20ish. By that point the hindrance of having no blues or purples/no ranked PvP etc. will start to bite, but at the same time they will have invested enough time in the game that they won't want to walk away. Allowing basic (maybe only white) advisors is one of the ways you'll keep them hanging on this long.

I think the f2p balance isn't enough towards the "f" here; like I say the f2p models that tend to be the most profitable are the ones that - on the face of things - seem to give away the most stuff. I think MS could stand to give away basic advisors; and maybe use of Empire points.

This game is more like "fee 2 play" rather than "free 2 play".. everywhere I press and every quest I complete ends with a LOCK...

I can't even buy the game.. my country is not supported..

Definite support. I bought the launch special bundle, and I've been here since Beta.

As it stands, f2p's can't make a "unique" troop out a fortress, which I just don't like.

I would like to see the balance of f2p slide a bit further to the f throughout the game though.

|||Ya, I agree with the above posters on this too. The whole idea after all is so that they can taste the fruit, but not eat it. Right now they cannot even taste the fruit at all.

I'd agree with letting Free2Play accounts getting white and green advisors.

Most of the advisors I use come from the shops, and since free civs can't spend empire points they will have a harder time getting the ones they want but still get to fool with the low level ones they find as loot.

two thumbs up to this suggestion .......... there's very little F2P content available. i'm lvl 9 and half of my inventory is locked :(

this looks to be a good game so far and i'll probably buy a premium pack (really want to see whats beyond the free stuff :P) ...... but i'm pretty sure most people wont see it that way. there's a tad too little free content for many.

F2Padviserswould be a good start to keep new players stick around longer.

Better notification of attacks

When you or your team mate are being attacked there is not a good attention grabbing indication. I've had team mates lose entire villages before I noticed they were even being attacked.
|||Err... gain a set of basic faculties beyond that of a drunken goat? They're using the same alert they always did, the classic AoE horn! If you don't notice an entire town get destroyed, you're just... kind of not very good... kind of REALLY not very good.

while i remeber the horn, I also distinctly remeber it being considerably louder.


Then again have not looked into if theres a specific setting to up the volume for just the alarm yet.


I will be sure to check once servers come back on, and if it is not. then thesetting needs to be added.

Make-your-own Unique Unit

I think it would be cool if, at lvl 40 or so, you could create a custom unique unit (or maybe hero unit, of which you can only train one) for your civ.

It could function a lot like a character creator in an RPG - you choose an archetype for the unit based on the extant units for the civ; maybe play around a little with the looks and have points that you can put into stats and then name it. If it was a hero unit, it might have its own levels or possibly combat abilities (like Warcraft III).

If not, maybe the same thing could be said for a piece of gear. There could be an extremely rare blacksmith building that, along with incredibly rare resources, would allow you to create a limited number of custom items - again, you choose a type, name it and then have points to spend on what bonuses it confers.

I could dig a hero-type unit. Maybe even going further then that, but make your own avatar and send him to fight as general in your quests or PvP matches.

Sort of like Warlords Battlecry, where you create a hero unit and level him up. Side-by-side with your Palace.

|||I don't know, that sounds too much like Warcraft 3, or the (not so) soon to be released heart of the swarm. On the other hand, this would be a place to put a lot of gears and stuff in.

Great idea but it should be available sooner..however the hero´s max level and itemquality could be dependent on the civilzation level. I love both Warlords Battlecry games, mostly played the minotaurs ^^

However this suggestion seems to be a rather huge change in the gameplay if ever becomes implemented. I would love it really i would but i doubt that will happen

They needn't even make them custom. Just allow a set of hero units that you can choose one of at the beginning and level them up slowly or something.
