Villager update: Can carry more than one resource at a time!

[:1]

We've all done this. Have villagers harvest gold, go build something, then ask them to get lumber. They take 10 gold nuggets to the building, build it, and just "throw away" those nuggets when harvesting lumber.

Why the heck do they STILL do this after all these years?!

I don't care if they get a "mixed resource penalty" of -1 carry capacity when having two types of resources, just don't let them destroy my precious resources when I make them harvest something new!

I agree but as we know this is how it's been since the old AoE games. I just direct the villagers to the nearest drop off site then have them go build whatever i need then i put them to work on something again and sometimes i send them to the drop off site again before the go get resources just to be sure.. However this causes me to lose precious time when they could be gathering resources instead of wasting time walking for no reason. It would just make managing easier especially for us players who have trouble managing 50+ villagers during a battle and half of them are idle so it makes it harder for us to manager idle villagers and a battle at the same time.

I'll be happy with a button that automates villagers so they gather resources or build. Civ 4 has the automated option where your workers can automatically make improvements to your tiles or create roads connecting to your network or cities. That way they are not standing around doing nothing and speeds up the gameplay.

I'm sure the developers (or any employer for that matter) wouldn't want to see a worker standing around getting paid and not doing any work so why not put that reality into the game.
