Saving progress in quests / save feature

[:1]

Dear devs,

we really, really, really need the game to save our progress within quests. I mean, we really need that.

Currently, if we lose connection (which unfortunately seems to happen semi-frequently) any progress inside a quest is lost and we have to restart. This is merely terribly annoying at lower levels, but later on when some quests take an hour or more to complete, it is devastating.

Somehow the game needs to save our progress while inside a 'mission', so that if we lose connection and return within a reasonable time frame, we can continue where we left off.

I'm considering this a gamebreaking "feature", and hopefully you see the importance of dealing with it. :)

Thanks for an otherwise very fun game, please keep it up!

We really don't need to save. You can't save on other MMO's, and i'm fairly certain, if they did do this, people would save next to chest loot and keep reloading until an epic dropped - seeing how all the loot is randomized. This would make it utterly stupid. This would cause it to be gamebreaking, not the fact you can't save...

No, that's not what I meant at all. I'm saying the server should keep track of our progress while we're in an instance, so that if a connection loss occurs we can resume from where we left off, and not having to restart the quest. That is, the server should 'save' what we're doing. Bad choice of words perhaps - not a native speaker.

The point you make about chests is very valid, and yes I'd agree that adding a regular 'save game' feature would be a bad idea considering this. Didn't think as far as you did, thanks for that. =)

Still, the main gist of the suggestion is to do something to avoid having to restart quests whenever a connection loss occurs. I haven't played any games that forces you to restart a mission/instance if you lose connection.

I think that there should maybe be checkpoints or something, maybe every time you age up and every time you collect a chest.

That way you can't reset for more chests, and you get checkpoints semi-often.

|||Say if you have multiple objectives in one quest, isn't if the writing turns green on one of them. That saves it? Or am i wrong. But i agree i think they should have checkpoints or just able to save in game :)
|||Nothing is saved until youreturnto the quest city. Even if you complete the whole quest and quit the game it doesn't save.|||No a manual save options would be wrong for already said reasons above but doesnt every mmo out there continously save your progress? And i think that can be expected in this game either..you are in a mission, the game saves that you are in the mission, it continously saves it..in lets say steps for a few seconds..every games does this out there so it cant be that difficult to make it here work the same way. So if you close the game or get disconnected, you can return as fast as you want..even go to bed to return the next day..the game saved how far you are in the quest and at login to that empire..you are isntantly taken to the mission, not to the city or map. That would be the best i could imagine for this.
|||boris ive been disconnected multiple times when i have the quest completed but havnt returned to the city it just happend to me a few hours ago and it still counts as the quest being completed|||

Yeah confirmed, if the quest is fully completed you can turn it in even after losing connection. Happened to me yesterday, I had completed the quest objective and was roaming the map to search for chests when I got disconnected. When I got back in game, I could turn in the quest for credit but the instance was gone so no chest hunting. ;)

That could beuseful. Right now if I am bored of the game and leave laptop in sleep orhibernatemode, game is dropped and 4 of 5 times is notreconnectinguntil restarted. That sucks hard.

Btw in most ofon-linegames if I leave my hero near chest spawn, or some other resources, or just in the *** island in the middle ofnowhereand logout afterloginI will find him at very same spot, not 'ported' home.Innovationsunderstandable, but please DO NOT RESEARCH BICYCLE, Microsoft!

Right, happened again. "You have been disconnected from Live" .. 35 minutes into a quest.

This is it, I'm not playing this game anymore until I can resume missions after losing connection.

Please fix this!

I agree; there should definitely be some in quest save feature in case of dropped connection (for the single player campaign at least; might be difficult if doing co-op or PvP, but still possible e.g. pause game for all parties and allow 10-20 seconds for reconnect of the party that lost connection).

I was in a hotel several nights ago playing on a wifi connection and the connection dropped 40min into a quest, really #%&/ me off. Please fix this ASAP because if this happens to me more often it will definitely put me off playing the game. Not everyone has a perfect ISP and when traveling connections can drop often, so please fix this.

Can we hear from GPG or MS moderator whether something like this is being worked on?

|||Just happened to me. Not sure if I'll get premium (I still haven't made my mind), but right now I'm installing another older RTS just because I got dropped after playing for about an hour a mission and was about to complete it. Not coming back until they fix this nonsense...|||

Ok this is really an extreme critical point and i would like to see some reaction of a dev here or i think i will move on..but an RTS without any kind of saving within the running battle wich often takes at least an hour if not more (ok for me at least..perhaps not for you) is not acceptable.

A few minutes ago i was canceling a quest i played around 40 minutes, hat alot fun and then..just realized i had 4 minutes to my 24h DC..and within that time it was impossible to finish the quest..so i had no choice..that really sucks goddamn..

HELLO MICROSOFT ARE YOU THERE ???

I guess i´ll drop to play this now...no need to make get a headache while you guys seem to give a **** for what the customers say.

|||This is impossible, quests are marked as completed and the information is saved upon getting the "quest is complete" message it doesn't matter if you return to quest city.
