Dear AOEO staff,

Why was I banned for logging into the game (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v470/Kenji_03/Banned_for_logging_in.jpg)?

What's that you say? "You weren't banned, you were just denied access because we're updating the servers". THEN WHY THE HECK DOES IT SAY I'M BANNED?!

Come on guys, this is beyond lazy -- this is just cruel.

You've probably already lost 100 players due to this crap because YOU are too lazy to inconvininece yourselves to do server maintenance at midnight (like every OTHER MMO) and instead decided to inconvinience your thousands of players, giving them this error message, and making some of the dumber (and therefore more willing to pay) ones quit!

Get your act together guys, this is NOT the kind of company I want to support by giving them $20 for $5 worth of content.

i agree with this they should have a server not available message but you have been banned is going to make the lesser minded ppl freak

|||You weren't banned. Read the other thread on this posted 'please delete'. I explain it there. Again, you arent banned. Settle down.|||I do however think them throwing around the word 'banned' is a bit much, so I agree with you on that part. But its okay, we still get to watch your city grow =)|||

|||But it's okay to bash the customers? lesser minded? the wording of the message is saying YOU ARE BANNED. while I didn't "FREAK" because I knew that I hadn't done anything. I still ended up going through support while simultaneously searching for other people with similar issues. This is terrible wording, almost like the original message was in another language and someone decided that babel fish was the best answer.

I just bought prems cause i wanted to play this game with more features and then get this message. It would make Anyone with the ability to understand theEnglishlanguage panic.|||

I also knew I hadn't done anything wrong but this is real BS.

First of all AOEO isn't that polished (villagers still destroy resources when gathering a new type, that's an old AOE2 bug) and then this? What kind of a game is Microsoft trying to run here?

Lol FacelessProject, I did the EXACT same thing. I knew there was server maintenance and I had an error that said "you cannot log in at this time" so i decided to buy premium in the gap and then when I hit play again I got "You Have Been Banned" lol thats funny, I'm not sure if the error message has any corrolation to people with preimium content or not.... either way that is the funniest error message ever! Because it is going to piss so many players off and push away potential customers.

Edit: So its back up now.... I have lost my city.... is this coz I bought the game or because of the patch?

Check which server are you on, and which server you used to play in. Chances are you got moved to another server by mysterious reasons.

I have no problems of them doing patches in the morning, since people do play at night, and you will probably get lower traffic during the day. The banned message is however rather stupid.

|||The message needs to be changed the current message spreads chaos and confusion among the people. Soon there will be riots and molotov cocktails being thrown..... Example message: The Servers are undergoing scheduled maintenance.
