I love this game, I want to say that first up. And as I posted in the "Premium is too expensive" thread, I feel the prices are way too high to what they should be. That's not what I'm discussing here.
What I want to talk about is the forcing of premium down our throats. I like Free to Play games. When I enjoy them, I pay for them because I want to give money back to the developer. As it happens though, I dislike premium creating a feeling of claustrophobia and like I don't really own the game.
I don't mind opening a chest and getting a premium-only item, as that's a chance drop (I assume), and one I can easily ignore. When they're given as the reward for a quest, I'm a little annoyed, but once again, it's sort of okay. When I can't finish a quest because the blueprint I need to use is only usable by a premium account, then I'm angry. Why wasn't the entire quest restricted from me? I can cope with that.
This is frustrating, and I don't like how it works. I know it may go nowhere, but I'd like to make some suggestions.
- Get rid of premium items from chests for Free To Play players. Make them aware in some way that if they go to a premium account they will get a wider array of better drops, a much wider array.
- Alternatively, give us a way to unlock single items. Make it hard, grinding, or a rare drop of a key that you can combine with that item. Make it so we have a chance to use these items, but it requires sacrifice or time. Another option would be you need to craft two or three other premium items to unlock a single item, as that would require major sacrifice of good items just to get one.
- Make it clear in the crafting school building that F2P people only get one school. When I read it all, it says I can learn two skills, but when I went to learn the second, ONLY THEN did it tell me I could only learn one.
- Either disable quests that require premium or label them. Now, unless I suddenly go premium with my civilization, I'm stuck unable to build an Ambassador's Hall or whatever it is, as the blueprint is premium. Now it's stuck in my inventory, and I can't finish the quest.
|||Are the enlarged fonts really necessary? Instead of simply calling Microsoft insane, contribute some other helpful suggestions.|||
I don't mind getting premium items from chests since you can just sell them on to premium players for a good amount of $$$ and i do agree that premium only quests should be filtered from f2p players.
i personaly would like to see all gear avliable to all players and premium changed to give bonuses to getting bonus loot in chests and extra proffesions/ bonus exp from quests
i would actually pay for premium on a 30 day subscription for these bonuses
right now i cant say im going to tell my friends to come hang out with me on this f2p game since it so resricted and all game developers know word of mouth is the most powerful weapon to make a game sussesful
|||The Math is simple.
At 10$ each, I'd have bought both available civilizations. = 20$ profit
At 20$ each, I won't be buying any civilizations. = 0$ profit
Setting your prices low enough that it encourage customers to make the purchase and try to get their friends involved makes far better business sense than attempting to set your prices as high as possible hoping to catch a few individuals who don't care about the price.
i don't see how $20 can be such a hardship.
For 20 dollars i will get a ton of hours out of levelling that civ.
For $20 i could get a couple beer in the bar.
Yup, $20 is fine!
It sounds more like people just want free stuff.
|||i agree with you Zhargadd
they should put more for free to play players i never saw a free to play to be so restricted
and they should add a auction or market place where people put their stuff for sale and wend you go to the player capital and look in his market place you can see what hes selling.
people they just released the game i think they will make some changes dont be so hard on them.
forgot to say the game is not that balanced you should make that other player cant construct buildings near you town hall from what i saw low lvls under 10 is very hard to win against a guy that made 20 guard towers close to each other around your town hall + with many ranged units and if he has premium he can have rare even epic stuff on his units that makes them even stronger and harder to kill his units or at least block guard tower till lvl 10 so that people can have siege weapons and you could make a rule for pvp that players over lvl 10 that fights with player under lvl 10 should only have tech 2 stuff not the tech 3 too so that he cant make fortress and siege weapons and the other player dont have them ( this is just a suggestion for a more balanced game )
|||I disagree with you Doublespeak. If it were say, $10, then your beerargumentholds up. However, $20 can buy me many MORE things than just beer. Looking at the new releases list on Steam, $20 will buy me almost any of the games on that list, with only a few appearing to be $25. Many of the games are less than 20.
I can buy a FULL GAME with ALL CONTENT UNLOCKED for less than what they're charging to unlock a small part of their game.
It's not a case of wanting free stuff, jerk. It's a case of looking at realistic pricing schemes.
|||at $10 i'd definitely buy a premium civ or 2.|||
Show of hands, if the civs were $10, how many people would complain that it should be $5 per civ?
You can't please some of the people all the time and you can't please all of the people any of the time.
|||I agree completely. I just can't justify paying $20 for one civ. $10 I would probably be willing to. And on that note I think the game modes should be about $5 instead of ten, but that's just my humble opinion.|||SgtCableDog you're assuming too much. I'm someone who buys products from games all the time. Price is normally no problem. In this case, however, things are too expensive.|||The game was fun. Then my inventory started filling up with items I couldn't use, and then with items I couldn't use and couldn't get rid of. That made me feel claustrophobic so I deleted that civ. I'm not going to buy this game.|||
Quest in Sparta? Why not? Build an Arena in my own city you say? Why not?
What? It's another quest that requires you to have premium, so now I have ANOTHER quest item in my inventory that I can't use? *** awesome.
Seriously guys, what the *** is with that? Are you even reading these forums? I wouldn't mind an explanation.
|||As eu player i must say at 20$ its way more reasonable than paying 17UK pounds or 20 euro cause that means EU players pay more!
